日本企業のクロスボーダーM&Aの案件を通じて、社会の成長に貢献したいからだ。
私は長期インターンシップで、日系食品メーカーによる海外企業への出資検討の案件に携わり、M&Aの意義深さを感じた。
当該案件は、国内で取得困難な技術の取り入れを目的としており、M&Aは企業の資本効率性の向上に留まらず、消費者への付加価値も高めることができる手法であると学んだからだ。
同時に、海外企業を相手にすることで、国内とは異なる固有の手続きや考え方の相違に気づき、クロスボーダーM＆Aの難しさを感じた。
今後日本社会を支えるM&Aの需要は増すと考えており、将来はファイナンシャルアドバイザリーとして、両者の違いや考えを意識し、その相違を埋めるような工夫をしたい。
貴行の投資銀行部門では、世界規模の案件を扱っており、多様な案件に携わることで、早期から広範な知識と経験を得て、顧客や社会への成長にも還元することが可能な環境だと感じた。

課題を特定し、解決策を検討して推進する力が強みだ。
私は、環境保全サークルに所属し、幹部として組織マネジメントを担っている。昨年、部員の参加率が低下し、各人の主体性を促す必要が生じた。
私は、幹部や各部員と議論し、係る原因と解決に向けた仕組みを検討した。
まず、各部員の関心のある環境問題を把握した上で、グループ分けを実施し、各々研究を進める体制を整えた。
次に、各グループの研究の進捗を報告する定期会議を設け、各部員の主体性を醸成することができた。他方で、自分自身も幹部として各グループのメンターとなり、モニタリングを行う等サークル全体の活性化に努めた。
その結果、1年間で参加率を約2倍に引き上げ、各部員が自分の役割を持ちチームで働く姿勢を高めることに成功した。
上記経験を踏まえて、貴行においても、顧客の意見を傾聴してニーズを深く理解し、そしてその課題解決に向けて主体的に取り組みたいと考えている。

DoorDash has acquired Wolt, an international food delivery enterprise based mainly in Europe, for $ 8.1 billion. Through this acquisition, DoorDash significantly expands its total addressable market. I was interested in this news because I realized that mergers and acquisitions can create added value to many positions in response to changes of the economy and society.
In some industries, the value has declined due to the influence of Covid-19, while in other industries the value has increased. In particular, the demand for food delivery has been increasing in recent years due to the effects of infection spread prevention and self-restraint regulations. By conducting mergers and acquisitions from such macro changes, not only DoorDash and Wolt but also food companies and users have benefited.
Therefore, I think that the ability to keep an eye on changes in the surroundings and markets and society is important for investment banks and mergers and acquisitions advisories. For instance, because of the existence of SDGs, which is the goal to be achieved by 2030, the number of businesses that consider environmental issues is increasing. Therefore, I think that the demand for M & A related to electric vehicles will increase.”
